Literature, criticism, translation, and art
New York · Est. 2026

A literary magazine shaped by South Asia and open to the world.

The Lucknow Review is the literary magazine of the Hindustan Society of New York. We welcome poetry, fiction, essays, translations, and visual art from writers and artists around the world. We especially encourage work that engages with South Asia and the many cultures, histories, and languages of the region.

Volume I · Issue I · 2026

Writing across borders, languages, and traditions.

The Review publishes work that is formally ambitious, intellectually serious, and attentive to the texture of lived experience. It is interested in South Asia not as a single subject, but as a vast and contested field of languages, memories, migrations, histories, and imaginations.

We also welcome work with no direct connection to the region. Our aim is to build a publication with a distinct sensibility rather than a narrow geographic boundary.

Send us work that stays with the reader.

We welcome previously unpublished poetry, fiction, essays, translations, and visual art. Full submission guidelines and reading periods will be posted here.
