The Review publishes work that is formally ambitious, intellectually serious, and attentive to the texture of lived experience. It is interested in the Indian subcontinent not as a single subject, but as a vast, contested field of languages, memories, migrations, histories, and imaginations.

We also welcome a broader selection of work. Our aim is to build a publication guided by a distinct sensibility rather than narrow geographic boundaries.

Send us work that stays with readers. We welcome previously unpublished poetry, fiction, essays, translations, and visual art.

Submissions will remain open through December 1, 2026.

The Lucknow Review will be published twice a year in digital and print editions. As we are currently preparing our inaugural issue, no past issues are yet available. We do not charge a reading fee.

Rights and payment: Contributors retain copyright to their work. Upon acceptance, The Lucknow Review requests first publication rights and the nonexclusive right to retain the published work in its online archive. After publication, contributors may republish their work elsewhere, provided that they acknowledge its first appearance in The Lucknow Review.

We aim to offer a modest honorarium for each accepted contribution, subject to available funding. The availability and amount of payment will be confirmed when an offer of publication is made.
